I am excited to unveil the newest custom bass C4 ocarina build, and the final instrument unveiling for this year. This set is also one of my most extraordinary and figured ocarina sets yet, with an utterly stunning selection of master-grade figured woods. This set, batch #18, consists of two ocarinas, SN 047 and 048, made from a selection of three unbelievable woods: a rich golden dark roasted torrified tiger maple body, a light cream colored flame maple top, and a salvaged curly old growth redwood mouthpiece and matching accent stripe. The torrified tiger male body is just so utterly stunning, and is one of the most figured pieces of maple I have ever worked with. The incredible golden brown color is accented with an utterly intense iridescent chatoyance of the extreme figure in the tiger maple that just ripples through the body. The top is equally tunning, with a classic lighter colored figured maple with incredibly intense and tight curl. The matching redwood accent to the redwood mouthpiece was a brilliant suggestion from the customer which is not something I have done yet, that ties together the entire look and color palette perfectly.
The tone and response is equally as beautiful as the woods itself, with a deep and rich bass tone that just flows effortlessly and smoothly across the range. The lows are deep and warm, with absolutely beautiful and easy highs, and a textured mellowness with a hint of airiness that makes for an exquisitely beautiful bass wooden ocarina tone. This is just a stunning collector’s item that would be a true gallery-level showpiece for the discerning collector and serious wooden ocarina player.
